Terms of Use

AusGuard for iOS. Reviewed 20 October 2026, app version 1.4.0.

In an emergency, do not rely on this app. Call 000 (Triple Zero) or your state emergency service. AusGuard is an independent third-party app. It is not a government service, is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Bureau of Meteorology, any state fire authority, or AusAlert, and it is not an emergency notification system.

1. What the app does

AusGuard aggregates publicly available weather, hazard, and location information from government and open-data sources and presents it in one place, along with optional AI-assisted summaries. It is provided for general information and everyday planning.

2. No warranty on safety information

Fire danger ratings, warnings, closures, air quality, tide and surf conditions, and transit status come from third parties and can be delayed, incomplete, ambiguous, or wrong at any moment. Sources occasionally change format without notice, and some feeds go offline. Never treat a rating, colour, score, or AI answer in this app as a substitute for the official source it cites. Every alert links back to its origin for that reason. The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent the law allows.

3. Acceptable use

4. Your account and your data

Using the app requires no account. Signing in with Apple is optional and only used to sync preferences and let you delete your records. You may delete your account from Settings at any time. What is collected and why is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

5. Pricing

The app is free to download and the core features cost nothing. An optional AusGuard Pro subscription is offered in the app to support development; if you buy it, Apple handles the payment and refunds, and Apple's subscription terms apply to that purchase. Prices are shown in your local currency at checkout. A subscription does not change the accuracy or the availability of the underlying public data.

6. Intellectual property

The app design, text, and code are the developer's. Government data remains subject to each agency's own licence and attribution requirements; source names are shown in the app. Do not republish agency feeds from this app.

7. Changes and termination

Features may be added, changed, or removed; the backend may be taken offline with reasonable notice to subscribers. Continued use after a terms update means you accept it. If we have to stop a feature you paid for, contact us and we will make it right.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and nothing here excludes rights you cannot waive under the Australian Consumer Law.
